MACHINE DESCRIPTION :

The OIL SEAL LIP OPENING PRESSURE TEST RIG(LOP) is manufactured to comply with the SAE: J946 standard of testing.

The LOP test rig is used to test Oil Seals with the Air Flow method. The Rig measures the resistance offered to specified air flow of 10,000 cc/minute between Oil Seal Lip and Mating shaft in static condition. This resistance is due to radial load of lip on shaft and is defined as Lip Opening Pressure (LOP)

The major factors playing a role in LOP are:

• Lip Diameter size variation.
• Lip Diameter Ovality, Crookedness and localized defects/deformation
• Improper Spring load on Lip
• Eccentricity of Lip with respect to Outside Diameter
• Contact line height
• Flex section thickness variation
• Radial Wall variation.
